5 Things You Need to Know Before Applying to Magic Ears

Are you thinking of applying to Magic Ears? Here's 5 things you need to know about the company first!

1. Requirements

- Must be a native English speaker native to US/Canada

- Must have an ESL certification with at least 1 year online ESL experience OR a bachelor's degree with 2 years online ESL experience or 3 years offline ESL experience. 

-If you have the proper degree or certification, but lack some of the ESL experience, you may attach a 1-2 minute intro video highlighting your teaching personality to be accepted. 

2. Tech Requirements

- Windows desktop or laptop, must be Windows 7 or later

- MAC desktop or laptop must be OSX 10.11 or later

- Chromebooks and iPads are not compatible with the ME platform

- At least CPU i5 4th Generation, models with suffixes M, HQ, HK and above.

Example: i5-6400 Memory: 4GB and above

- Must have webcam and a headset

- Must have stable network, Ethernet is preferred.

- Bandwidth should at least be 2M, 10M and above are preferred

3. Hours

4. Pay 

Base pay

- $9 per 25 minute class, or $10 per class if teacher has a Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Education, an ESL certification, and 5 years online teaching experience or 5 years experience teaching children.

Bonus Incentives

- $1 bonus for each class for the next three hours after arriving to the first class of the day 8-10 minutes early. If you arrive to your first Beijing time PM class early, you'll receive the bonus for all PM classes. If you arrive to your first Beijing time AM class early, you'll receive the bonus for all AM classes.

- $1 bonus for each class when you open 60 class slots for availability per month. 

- Base pay can range from $22-24 an hour with added bonus incentives.

Raises

- Senior Teachers (those that have taught more than 100 classes and are in the top 20% highest rated teachers) will receive a .50 cent raise for each class at 6 month contract renewal.

- Magic Masters (those that are in the top 5% highest rated teachers) will receive $1 raise for each class at 6 month contract renewal. 

- The highest wage one can receive with raises is $26 an hour
